A Weekend Recap

Well, I got around to doing everything I meant to do Friday.

I cleaned up the house. (Twice actually. Once in the afternoon, and again that evening, since we had company. The kids trashed it in between.)

I set up the yahoo group for our Sunday school class.

I made the cake. It was really good, and I'm not normally a cake person. It was called a Mocha Sheet Cake, and I believe it came from Country Home magazine. I discovered while baking it that V likes to dance to the mixer.

L and I strung some dyed pasta on ribbon, until he got sick of it. I've been looking for more opportunities for him to work on fine motor stuff. He's trying so hard to write, but he has a bit of a hard time drawing or writing anything small.

Friday night, we got a surprise. Our brother in law bought us a new couch! Apparently he got a really good deal on it at Pier 1. It's gorgeous, and we were happy to replace our $30 pink velour garage sale couch. It (the pink couch,)was promptly removed from the curb by another family. Recycling is so cool. Here's a pic of the new one.

The potty training isn't going as well as I had hoped. There's been a lot of laundry, a fair amount of carpet cleaning, and then yesterday, the poop incident. I'll spare you the details, but it was the stuff nightmares are made of.

This morning we went to church, and C was able to go too, which was nice for a change.

Tomorrow, we're making a trip to IKEA, which is our favorite store. Wait. I should clarify. C and I love IKEA. The kids, not so much. If I recall correctly, last time we went, I said I was never going back. V cried, and had to be carried the whole time (by me only, never daddy,) and L whined all day. Everyone else's kids are always sleeping peacefully in the enormous baskets. Not mine. I better pack some ibuprofen...

And now, I leave you with a picture of V, dancing to Yo Gabba.

  1. Isn't that the truth about cleaning, kids trashing, and cleaning again? And then rinse and repeat for the next day.

I LOVE chocolate sheet cakes! I never make them because I have a tendency to eat the entire thing myself. Which is hard on the hip region.

I'm ABOUT to start potty training Adelaide in full force. My must-have product for accidents is called Kids n' Pets -- it actually breaks down the enzymes in bodily fluids (ew!) and TRULY cleans and neutralizes. It's in the cleaner section of stores like walmart and it looks like a giant pop-top water bottle. HIGHLY recommend it.

  2. How cool about the new couch!

Don't feel bad, my kids were not good shoppers when they were toddlers either. Now 2 out of the 3 of them are shopoholics.
