Margaret's Hope Chest

As you may remember, I recently participated in the Spring Sew Mama Sew giveaway day. I gave away a little baby blanket and hat, and also entered a number of giveaways.
As it turned out, I won one, and it was the coolest giveaway I've ever entered.
The giveaway was hosted by Margaret's Hope Chest, a nonprofit organization that donates beautiful handmade quilts to people in need.
The contest was fairly unique, in that entrants were asked to enter on behalf of someone they knew could use a little hope.
I entered on behalf of my older sister. She's had an almost unbelievable couple of years, which have included major back surgery, thyroid cancer (thankfully now in remission,) and now, several other health issues. At the time I entered, she was in the hospital again.
She was selected as one of the winners. I called her up, and told her to expect a surprise in the mail in a couple of weeks.
She called my one day last week and said she got it, and that it was beautiful. She couldn't believe someone had given her something so wonderful, just because. I believe it did bring her a little hope.
I'm not a quilter. I bumble around on the sewing machine, making little do-dads for my kids, but I could never make anything requiring so much skill and patience. If you are by any chance a quilter, I would urge you to consider making something for this worthy organization.

By the way, if you want to see which quilt she won, you can see a picture of it here. It's the first picture in the post. I visited my sister a couple of days ago, and got to see it in person. It's gorgeous.
