V loves to play outside, to get dirty, ride her tricycle, swing, play with the dog.
L, not so much. In fact, it's hard to get him outside, and when I do, he still just normally plays Legos or Pokemon outside. (Which is better than nothing, I guess.)
The other day I was trying to persuade him to play in the back yard, and not getting much enthusiasm, when I had an idea.
I've seen all the neat little printable scavenger hunts online , but I decided to go even simpler. I wrote a few things I was sure he could find in the yard on a paper lunch sack, and told him it was an assignment for school.
He was excited to get started, and quickly found most of the items, although the feather took a bit longer.
When he finished, we took a picture of his finds, and he said he'd had fun.
I asked him if he'd like to do the activity again another day, and he said yes. Score one for mommy. :)
(Sorry about the iPhone pics. My camera is on the blink.)

fun idea i love the bag with the clues :) I'm going to make up a set (so each of my girls have a bag) for each week of summer vacation so we can make a cool collage by the end. Thanks so much for the great idea! will link back to here for my post :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a super idea to write the list onto a bag! So clever.
ReplyDeleteyou already know but I love this idea and have already started making weekly bags for this summer!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea! I don't have the problem of getting mine outside. But this would be a really fun activity (and good for beginning reading too)!
