WFMW: Recycle Last Year's Kiddie Pool

Well, you can tell it's still a work in progress, but here's how we are reusing last year's kiddie pool. I had my husband drill some holes in the bottom, before we filled it with soil and fertilizer. This is our version of a raised herb garden. No need to till, and minimum weeding. Easy, right?

My kids are helping us (a little,) in the vegetable garden located elsewhere in the yard, but if they were a bit older, I think it would be fun to put them in charge of their own little garden. This would be just the right size.

  1. This is a wonderful idea! We have an older one that the dog used a couple of summers ago. All gross from being left in the shed. Perfect way to re-use it! Thanks!

  2. Brilliant! Ours is an inflatable though. Hmm. Thinking about how to adapt the idea...

  3. I've been wondering what to do with our old pool that has been sitting under the barn for three years. I drag it around and put weeds in it to set them in the sun and dry them out before I throw them in the compost, but I think my kids would love a raised garden of their own.

  4. I love this idea! When our kids abuse the frog and turtle sandboxes (one we use as a sandbox and one as a kiddie pool) too much, we'll have to try this out!

Hope your groggy mornings start getting a bit more upbeat!
