No Girls Allowed Book Review

As a member of the Tyndale Blog Network, I was recently able to review a new boys' devotional, called No Girls Allowed, by Jayce O'Neal.
The book is intended for boys ages 8-12, and includes 60 devotionals, each 4 pages long.

Each 4 page section includes:
a story
a relevant Bible verse
a prayer
an activity (things like a word search, a secret code to break, or a crossword)
a list of things to do to put the day's study into action
several pertinent quotes by authors, religious leaders and philosophers
and several other scriptural references about the topic

The devotionals cover topics you might expect to see, things like bullying, persistence, and teamwork, but they're approached in a way that will be very engaging for boys in this age group. There are references to comic books, video games, and characters like Spongebob Squarepants and the Transformers.

I was really impressed with this book, and would recommend it to anyone with a son in this age range.

The only (small) improvement that I would make on it is that I wish it were spiral bound, as I think that would be better suited to the workbook type format of this devotional.

Disclaimer: I was provided with a free review copy of this book from the publisher, in order to facilitate the review. No other compensation was provided.
