I've been eying some pretty, clear glass cake plates at Hobby Lobby for a while now. They started out around forty bucks, if memory serves, and they periodically mark them down a little. What can I say, though, I'm cheap. And my kids break things. Even at $15 or $20 a piece, they aren't that practical for me.
After seeing lots of neat DIY cake plates online, and seeing a tiered version from thrift store materials in a recent issue of Readymade, I decided to make my own.
I picked up 3 glass candle holders, and 3 clear glass plates at Dollar Tree. I glued them together using E6000.
Easiest project ever.
Now I have 3 pretty, generic looking cake plates, which I can use for multiple occasions. Grand total: $6.

ReplyDeleteWow and I just had a HUGE garage sale, that I sold probably 30 candle sticks in it. Why is the find always a few days late??????
