Learning while playing...

I picked up a Magna Doodle for L from Goodwill a couple of weeks ago, and he's getting a ton of use out of it, practicing writing and drawing. For some reason, he seems to prefer this to crayons and paper. As a result, we've been taking lots of pictures, to document his work.

Here's the word pig, written in his adorable 3 year old handwriting:

And finally, a potato bug on a skateboard, which is a Yo Gabba Gabba reference :

What are some of your favorite non tradional learning materials around your house? We're really into shaving cream around here. We smear it on the wall in the bath tub, and write letters, numbers, and words. We've been doing it for several years, and he never gets tired of it. I also got huge package of little chipboard scrapbooking letters from Tuesday morning last week, which L has been using to "build words."(Anyone else's kids love WordWorld?)

  1. The magnadoodle is a favorite at our house right now too. I love it because I don't have to worry about marks on walls or tables.

We have recently started playing an alphabet game while driving while everyone tries to find letters in order (frontward or backwards) on signs. First one to finish wins!
