In Which I Spout Sad Cliches

I'm going to take about a week off around here.

In a sad, unexpected turn of events, I lost my 49 year old aunt Friday. Several days later, my uncle's wife passed away. I'm rarely at a loss for words about anything, but this time I am.

I'm planning to take my first ever out of town trip without the kids to attend the funeral. Although I won't be gone long, I'm a little apprehensive about it.

I know it's so cliche to say, but seriously, pick up the phone, write that letter, knock on that door. Make sure folks know how much you love them. There may not be a later.

I'll be back again next week, with the usual stuff. Until then, hug your babies, and savor the moments, even the rough ones. They're all a blessing...

  2. So sorry to hear about your family's losses of loved ones. Two people in our family had heart attacks within a week and a half this month. They thankfully pulled through, but I hear you about the importance of not taking life and family for granted. Safe travels.

  3. I am sorry for your loss, life is precious and we do all take it for granted, thank you for the reminder to try to tell those we love that we love them.

  4. Two loved ones in one week, sorry for the losses. One of my favorite sayings I tell people all the time is " No one is guaranteed a tomorrow." " If you woke up today it is a great day, what you choose to do with it, is your choice."
