Target Finds

If you haven't dropped into Target lately, now's a good time to do so. They have lots of great "school-y" finds in the Dollar Spot, including nice workbooks, pocket charts, books, and fact cards.

They also have a little section devoted to Dr. Seuss stuff, which I adore.

Go stock up! This stuff always goes quickly.

Out of the Box Sources for Homeschoolers

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Everyone knows you can find some pretty awesome learning supplies at a teaching store, and you can find nearly ANYTHING online. If you keep your eyes open though, you can find neat things nearly anywhere. I've posted before about my love of Goodwill and Dollar tree. They're both great places to find puzzles, games, art supplies, and (at Goodwill,) books.
Today I thought I'd share with you another of my favorite places to scavenge for fun homeschool-y stuff: Tuesday Morning. They nearly always have a wide range of nice puzzles, Montessori type block sets, science projects, craft sets, and more, for way cheaper than you'd pay at a teaching supply store.

I picked up two of these little science tool sets yesterday for $1.99 each, which made them even cheaper than cobbling together a similar set of dollar store finds. I also picked up a neat card game for the kids, and a chocolate making kit, for around $11 total.

Heads up on a cool Twitter Giveaway

I've talked before about how much my kids like the Boca Beth product line. Beth, the creator is also a neat lady, a hard working mommy entrepreneur.
Right now, and for the next 9 days, Beth is holding a series of giveaways on Twitter.
If you tweet your most commonly used Spanish word to hashtag #bocabethfun, you'll be entered in the daily random drawing for a Boca Beth CD or DVD of your choice. Easy, right?
I already won a DVD, which I'm going to be giving to the kiddos for Christmas.

I should note that there's also free standard shipping right now on the Boca beth website. Check it out at http://www.bocabeth.com/.

(disclaimer: I didn't receive anything in exchange for this post. I'm just spreading the word about a product we actually use and like.)

Get thee to Big Lots, for cheap Martha Stewart crafts

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Yesterday I stopped by Big Lots, and they have tons of awesome Martha Stewart craft kits for $2 a piece! The kits are really all inclusive, and a great deal at that price. I picked up several for myself, and a few more to put away for Christmas gifts. They'd make great stocking stuffers.
I made these cute little felt picture frames for L's room today.

A quick organizational idea...

A lady in a homeschooling Yahoo group that I subscribe to passed along a neat tip, and I thought I'd pass it along to you. Dollar Tree has some really cute little backpacks for sale right now that are perfect for organizing some of your themed materials. I found one with a fish, a frog, a butterfly, a cookie, and a cat decoration. They are small, and definitely wouldn't stand up to the heavy wear and tear of using them as an actual backpack, but they'll be a cute way to keep a couple of books, a game or two, and maybe a puzzle, or some small theme related toys together.

Cheap Book Alert

I don't normally do this, but I thought I'd give everyone a heads up on a really good sale. I got an email today from http://www.bookcloseouts.com/ stating that they were having a huge sale on educational books and materials. They have hundreds of titles marked down to .99. I just scored over $300 in books for $26 and some change (before shipping). I've ordered from them before, and although the standard shipping is fairly slow, you can't beat their prices. If you're a homeschooler, (and even if you're not,) go check it out.
