Ouch!

Yesterday baby V had her first major spill. She fell off a kitchen chair and hit her head. She subsequently became really drowsy and shaky, and threw up all over my bed. In a panic, I called my sister to come get L, and my husband to take V to the hospital with me. We called the pediatrician on the way out, and they said they'd work her in, so we took her there instead. They checked her out and said she was fine, and by that time she was acting basically normal again. Thank God!
She's a climber though, and we had to make her stop climbing on my sister's kitchen chairs just a little while later. Argh.

Baby Carrier Update

Thanks to the folks who weighed in on the baby carrier issue.
I decided to post on freecycle that I was looking for a Mei Tai or an Ergo, even though I didn't think I'd have any luck. In my neck of the woods, I'm usually the only one I see babywearing, with the occasional exception of a newborn in a Snugli.
I was so excited to get an email from a lady who said she has a basically new Mei Tai, that her baby hadn't liked. I picked it up yesterday morning, and it's great. V likes it, and it didn't hurt my back! The lady also hooked me up with about a half a dozen really nice cloth diapers, a couple of covers, and lots of inserts. She's currently my hero. :)
I'll be "paying it forward" this next week. C says we have to clean out the garage, and we have a ton of stuff to freecycle.

I have several things I want to post about, but my mother and stepdad are in town this weekend, so it will have to wait. Have a nice weekend, everyone.

Baby wearing help, please!

I need some baby carrier advice.

Carrying baby V in some sort of babywearing contraption is the only way I can get any housework done. When she was tiny, I carried her in a pouch sling, and then an *old* Snugli. For a while, she also let me wear her in a homemade woven wrap on my back. She eventually decided that was too confining, and won't go for it anymore, which is unfortunate, since it was fairly comfortable for me, and only cost $5.

About the only thing she still likes is the Snugli. It is terrible for my back and shoulders, and is leaving red marks on the inside of her thighs, in spite of the fact that she is tiny, and well within the weight limit.

I'm looking at an Ergo. V is 13 months old, weighs about 19 pounds, and loves to be carried on my back in the Snugli. Is that the way to go? Are they more comfortable to wear? Any other suggestions?

Money is an issue, and I can't afford to spend a hundred bucks on a baby carrier, and then not be able to use it.
